fitness

A friend of mine once gave me a copy of his first book. The thing that was written on the first page especially for me was:

“The magic is not to finish, the magic is to begin!”

Well, he had in mind the process of writing, but this also applies if you are going to practice fitness or any kind of physical activity. The sad truth is that actually we practice all sorts of physical exercises as kids. I remember riding a bicycle all day long, even if it was a damn hot summer day. I was not doing it as part of a fitness routine or a weight loss program, but for pure fun. Well, probably I don’t have to mention that I never had any problems with obesity as a kid (this without doing any activity that I find boring – I was just enjoying myself).

The same thing pretty much goes on when you are a student. The physical exercise classes do a rather good job in keeping your body activity at some reasonably good level. Not to mention that school and high school are the moments in life when you start fiercely competing with the rest of the world. This is often done with all kind of fitness-like exercises and repetitions. Who is going to be the pushup king, etc.?

Things start to go wrong when you go to college and university. Dealing with your body fitness starts to be a matter of choice and it is very easy to neglect this part of your development. Especially if the other classes and exams are pressing you harder and harder. This is the time when people start to lose the focus on their physical condition.

When the college years are over and the real career starts, the physical activity is usually over. At some moment people start to discover that they are growing themselves a pot belly. I really hope that you are going to start doing some exercises before this excessive part of your body is a fact, but if you already have one, then…

… the magic is to begin. (again…)

The main problem is that fitness is no more part of your schedule. There are no more buddies waiting at your door to play football or something similar. However, it is up to you to perform a make-over of your working day and place some fitness repetitions somewhere between the so important other appointments.

The purpose of this article is not to provide you with some particular fitness advices and exercise repetitions. This site contains plenty of this stuff. The aim of the text is to make you remember the time when you were kinds and the wild things you’ve done. Well, I’m not suggesting that you jump over your neighbor’s fence again, chasing your buddies. However, you have to agree that this is some really good way to burn calories?.

My intention is to remind you of the times you were much more physically active without some particular mental effort. You’ve been doing fitness in the times when this word didn’t have any meaning for you. It is time to start again.

… the magic is to begin.
